International Conference on Science and Jain Philosophy

Each time I learn something new, I realise how much more there is to be known and how little I actually know. But, during my first ever conference on Jain philosophy I realised how valuable the existing knowledge can be. How it can help understand other fields of study and critically filter information. Where the spectrum of science is between the dimensions of "known and unknown", Jain philosophy has a third dimension of the "unknowable". Therein lies the enigma of truth and the foundation of faith.

At the ICSJP conference I have been introduced to several new theories, ideologies and perspectives. It has opened up several areas for further study in macro cosmology, micro cosmology, and scientific-cum-spiritual practices.

It has introduced me to a whole new world of scholars and modern age thinkers. I would have liked to interact with them a little more but for now I am content with knowing who I can reach out to for help on specific topics.

It has helped me build a network with other young Jains who wish to preserve their religion and roots.

Mostly importantly, it has rung a bell of caution in my mind. Caution not to make the means the end, not let scientific quest overshadow the very purpose for which it was used.

I have a feeling that this marks the beginning of a new chapter of judicious, critical learning.
