According to one of the oldest literary compositions in Jainism, Padmpuran, 990 million maha munis have attained Moksha from Mangitungi. As such, it is one of the most sacred and religious centers of India.

In the year 1996, Shri Gyanmati Mataji, at present the highest of all the Aryikas in India, during her chaturmaas at Mangitungi, thought of the concept of building one 108 feet high statue form one single rock of the first Tirthankar Lord Rishabh Dev. In the year 2002 the work was started after performing the necessary religious ceremonies. Till now more than 50,000 truck loads of rocks have been cut and Architects, Engineers and Contractors are busy in giving shape to the concept. It would take another few years before the project is complete and the world would see the highest ever statue cut from a single rock.

This project concepted by Shri Gyanmati Mataji and her Sangh, is another link in the chain of development of Teerth Shetras specially the birth places of our Tirthankars. Till now birthplace of Lord Shanti Nath, Kunthu Nath and Arnath, Hastinapur, Birthplace of Lord Rishabh Dev and four others at Ayodhya, birthplace of Lord Muni Suvratnath at Rajgrahi, Birthplace of Lord Mahavir at Kundalpur have already been completed and developments of the birthplace of Lord Pushpdant at Kakandi is going on.
