11/16 - Shah, Nilesh & Krina (Dedicated to Nanalal Chimanlal Shah)
11/18 - Dr. Anila Guruji (Punyatithi of Dinesh Guruji)
We have received a very good response to the Tithi Program. It allows all members to select a day (Or days) in a year (or Lifetime) when they can do all religious rituals that happen in our temple for the entire day. The rituals include Pakshalji, Ashtprakari Puja, Aarti and Mangal Divo. Multiple families can also participate and ask for a tithi. There are approximately 340 tithis during the year excluding certain tithis when we have Jain Center functions.

Each tithi is available for $101 per member family for one year or for $2,501 for Life Time.

For Life Time Tithi, your name will be posted on board and newsletter. You can keep a photograph of your loved one for that day for paying tribute, well wishes or recognition.

For people who have already submitted their names for this program and also for people who want to signup, please email the completed form to Dr. Mahendra Shah ().

Gujarati Sangeet Ni Mehfil - Saturday, November 15 (5:30 PM)

Anekant Community Center (ACC) presents a memorable evening of Gujarati Music, mimicry and fun on Sat Nov 15, 2014 from 5:30PM onwards at the Jain Center. Visiting artists from San Francisco area will perform. The tickets are $50 and $20, and include dinner.

Please see the attached flyer.

You're invited to take part in the community #LogassaChallenge

Next to the Navkaar Mantra, the Logassa Sutra is the most widely used sutra in Jain prayers. It is a poem that praises the virtues of the Tirthankars and expresses our desire to be like them. You may already know how to say the Logassa sutra in its entirety or you may know some of it but need to practice a little to be able to recite it.

Either way, here is your chance to take another step towards your spiritual journey and also benefit the Jain Center. The sutra is only 14 lines long, so come and recite the Logassa sutra and you will be able to win a donation of $10for the Jain Center. All you have to do is to recite it to one of the Sutra teachers, headed up by Savitaben Mehta. You will also find several audio and visual tools that will make learning the sutra easy and fun.

Learn on your own or practice with a friend. Visit http://jaincenter.org/Logassa and Take the Challenge.

JCSC Wellness Challenge

Upcoming Challenge - Do Not Eat Any Fried Foods - Week 25

For the upcoming weekly challenge we are challenging the participants to "not eat any fried foods.” You're at greater risk for high blood cholesterol and heart disease if you eat a diet that often includes deep-fried or breaded foods, which are high in fat. Diets high in saturated fat and cholesterol tend to raise total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol. LDL cholesterol is considered the “bad” cholesterol because it contributes to plaque, a thick, hard deposit that can clog arteries and make them less flexible. Foods that are fried or breaded tend to be very high in fat because they are cooked in fat.. If you are interested in learning more and participating, click here.

U.S. Born Nisha Kapashi to Take Diksha

Nisha, daughter of Manoj and Manjari Kapashi, was born in the USA and raised in Mumbai. At the age of 20, she left Mumbai to study fashion merchandising at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York. She studied for 1 year in Florence, Italy, and for 3 years in New York. She then went on to work as a fashion merchandiser for J.Crew.

However, her excitement for the fashion world was soon replaced by a longing for something more meaningful. She thus quit her job and traveled to India to where she met with Acharyadev Shrimad Vilay Kirtiyashsurishvarji Maharaj Saheb and Sadhviji Shri Prashamitashriji Maharaj Saheb.

Under their enlightened guidance she began to explore, understand and experience Jain religion. And this has ultimately resulted in her firm resolve to take diksha. Her diksha ceremony is on January 18, 2015, at Sammetshikharji. Her family has extended their heartfelt invitation to one and all to join them in this celebration.

Donate Clothes to Sanatan Mandir

It's the return of a popular project! Come forward and help those in need. Please bring your old or new cleaned and folded clothes to the Sanatan Mandir for our Share and Care program. Let us help humanity by clearing out our closets of clothes. Please bring everything that can be useable. Thank you for your generosity and understanding.

One of our community members Maltiben Maheshbhai Maheta is coordinating this effort with the help of Sanatan Dharm Temple. If you have any questions, please direct them to: Malti Maheta (949) 551-4569 or B.U.Patel (714) 925-1773
