Safety Training - Sun Feb 22, 2015

We need more volunteers to be trained. We will have a mock evacuation of Classes in room N1 to N4 On Sun Feb 8, 2015 at 11AM and if you are thinking about being a volunteer, this could be a great time to check it out.

JCSC EC has appointed an Evacuation Action Plan (EAP) team for safe and orderly evacuation of our patrons at time of any emergency, especially earthquake. The EAP consists of Dhiren Mehta (lead), Narendra Jain, Manisha Shah, Mita Mehta, Smriti Shah, Ramesh Parekh and Pinal Doshi.

In 2014, we conducted three evacuation drills and they were very successful.  Now we want to put together a volunteer team that can assist in implementing the evacuation in real emergency. We are asking for volunteers from each activity / area to assure safety during all possible activities at the Jain Center. Please come forward and join the volunteer team for safety of yourself and of those around you at Jain Center.

The EAP team has planned volunteer training session on Sunday, 22 Feb 2015 at 1 PM in the Cultural building in upstairs Exhibit area i.e.immediately after the Pathshala classes. The training is expected to last 2 hours. Your active support is highly needed and appreciated.

If you have not yet registered to be a safety volunteer, please send an email to

JCSC Wellness Challenge

Drink 1 ounce of water for every 2 pounds of your weight Week 36

For the upcoming weekly challenge we are challenging the participants to "drink 1 ounce of water for every 2 pounds of your weight.” Water plays a vital role in digestion, blood circulation, absorption of nutrients and the elimination of toxins. It's important in the function of every organ in your body, including the skin. Just like all other organs, the skin is made up of cells that require water to function. When your skin cells aren't sufficiently hydrated, the appearance of your skin suffers, making you look older than your years.

Meditate for 21 minutes everyday - Week 35

This week, the challenge is to meditate for 21 minutes everyday. Throughout the day, when we experience stress, our bodies automatically react in ways that prepare us to fight or run. In some cases of extreme danger, this physical response is helpful. However, a prolonged state of such agitation can cause physical damage to every part of the body. Meditation affects the body in exactly the opposite ways that stress does, restoring the body to a calm state, helping the body to repair itself, and preventing new damage due to the physical effects of stress.
