A Unique Opportunity to Help Spread Jain Principles to Mainstream Americans

We all are proud of building "Temples of Worship" over time in multiple places in North America. They provide essential service to all Jain and greater Indian diaspora. However, we have not been able to reach out to the general public as much yet and if anytime there is a need then it is now as Violence is rampant around the World today! Education of Ahimsa, Anekantvad and Aparigrah via "Temples of Education" can be very timely to non-Jains all over the world!

We are very fortunate to be able to support a First ever Jain Chair in a mainstream university. We invite you all to celebrate "Shri Parshvnath Presidential Chair in Jain Studies" on Sunday December 6 at Jain Center.

Establishment of "Shri Parshvnath Presidential Chair in Jain Studies" in the School of Humanities at University of California, Irvine is a step forward to advance the Jain Principles to the broader population. This is happening thanks to the generosity of Drs. Meera & Jasvant Modi, Mr. Rajesh (Raju) and Neeta Shah & Mr. Harshad and Raksha Shah. UCI needs $ 2.0 M endowment for the Chair and UC President's office will give $ 0.5 M towards it. Out of needed $ 1.5 Million these three families have pledged $ 1.25 M. We are short only $ 250,000 and request you all to join this initiative to bring education of Jain Principles in the forefront. Fulfillment of this commitment at UCI will open doors to Jain studies at more American Universities.

Jain Center of Southern California and Jain Temple of Los Angeles have been approved by UCI Foundation to collect funds for Shri Parshvnath Presidential Chair from the community. As the year 2015 comes to a close, please consider Vidya Daan in your charitable giving for the year. All contributions are fully tax deductible.

Furthermore, UCI has also offered naming opportunity to everyone who contributes $ 5,000 or more. $ 5,000 contributors will be recognized in a plaque created for Shri Parshvnath Jain Chair, while one who contributes $ 25,000 or more will also be recognized on a wall of School of Humanities so the names will be placed at two places for all who contribute $ 25,000 or more.
