Upaśama

Subsidence- A type of Karmakaraṇa (spi-ritual energy qua transformation of Karma);

to inhibit both the types of Udaya (rise) of Mohanīya (deluding) Karma viz., Vipākodaya (rise qua fruition) as well as Pradeśodaya (innocuous realization of the karmic matter).

To render the (Mohanīya (deluding)) Karma unfit for Udaya (rise), Udīraṇā (premature rise), Nidhatti (the process which makes the Karma incapable of application of all the Karmakaraṇa (spiritual energy qua transformation of Karma) except Udvartana (augmentation) and Apavartana (attenuation) and Nikācanā (the condition which renders such karmic matter incapable of all the Karmakaraṇas).

mohakarmaṇo vedyābhāva upaśamaḥ.

vipākapradeśānnbhavarūpatayā dvibhedasyāpyudayasya viṣkambhaṇamupaśamastenanirvṛtta aupaśamikaḥ.

(UśāVṛ Pa 33)

udayodīraṇānidhattinikācanā'yogyatvam upaśamaḥ.
