| Jain Milan is an opportunity for Jain youths between the age of 22 to 42 to meet in person, to make friends, to engage in networking, and to find a life partner. In the past Jain Milan sessions facilitated the interactions through Ice-breakers, interactive sessions, speed dating, Mixers, Meet & Greet Events, Relationship Workshops, River Cruise and Garba-Raas. Though online and email communication help to a certain extent, nothing comes close to meeting potential suitors in person. Jain Milan is organized to encourage our Jain youth to meet other Jains for the purpose of matrimony and to facilitate face-to- face meeting in a comfortable, welcoming environment. There have been many success stories of people meeting during Jain Milan, becoming friends and eventually getting married. | JAIN SOCIETY OF HOUSTON SANGH | |||||
 Jain Society of Houston Sangh and JSOC Pathshala celebrated the festival of Deepawali with lot of zeal and enthusiasm this year. Pathshala students started the day by learning how to perform chandan puja and then flower and chalk rangoli. Bhavna group sang amazing stavans and songs while the men and women of the sangh joined in garba and dandia. After rangoli, kids moved on to making vibrant torans and decorated with gemstones, stickers and glitter. Kids then made aarti thali and decorated with electric tea lights.All the kids joined in the Veer Sainik march and came to the main hall with dhol, musical instruments, banners wishing everyone a Happy Diwali with their decorated aarti thali, singing stavans. They all joined with the Bhavna group to sing Aarti and Mangal Deevo. The energy in the temple could not be more festive on that auspicious day as the kids chanted “Mahaveer Bhagvaan ki Jay” twenty one times. No Indian festival is complete without amazing Indian food and all had a variety of snacks followed by lunch.. | |||||

 Suparshwanath Bhagwan is the 7th Tirthankar of this Avsarpani Kal. He was the son of King Pratisthit and Queen Prithvi. He was born in Varanasi. He attained Nirvana in Samet Shikhar. He had 95 Gandhars and he took 3 Bhavs after Samyak Darshan to attain Moksh. The topic of his first sermon was Anyatva Bhavna which means that our soul and all the other things present in the world are different. Our soul is one different entitiy and it should not be connected to anything in the world. Our body is temporary but our soul is permanent. The demands of both soul and body are contradicting in nature, like for example, our body needs food, but our soul doesn’t. It is important for us to understand the needs of our soul because only that can take us to Moksh. For us as humans, it is difficult to think from the view point of our soul because for us our body is everything. The reason behind this difficulty is Mohniya Karma. It is the king of all the Karmas and it is very difficult to defeat it but it is not impossible. According to Anyatva Bhavna the person who strongly believes in this,will never get unhappy in his life, because he knows the fact that whatever is happening is happening to all the worldly things and none of them are connected to his/her soul. | |||||
