We are happy to announce an Invitation to the LMU Conference "Spiritual Warriors: Non Violence in the Sikh and Jain Traditions" to be conducted from Feb 23 to Feb 24, 2017.
This conference will explore the spiritual-political nexus of violence and non-violence in the Jain and Sikh traditions through the concept of the "spiritual warrior." The Jain practices of ahimsa (nonviolence) and Sikh practices of seva (selfless service) promote care for and protection of all others through conquering self-centered desires and behavior. However, they differ in their approaches with Jain monks and nuns avoiding harm to others at all costs and Sikhs known historically as warriors who defend those in need against injustice. Their competing and complementary narratives and practices have the potential to radically inform contemporary struggles by offering dynamic paths to ethical engagement with all life. Please note that the conference day (Friday, Feb 24, 9am-5pm) is invite only, and this is your official invite. The evening talks (Feb 23 & 24) are open to the public. Please Register: https://nirinjan.wufoo.com/forms/spiritual-warriorsnonviolence-in-jain-and-sikh/
