BNHS CEC launches Certificate course in Butterfly Studies
The all new course is all about butterflies

Mumbai: 5th May: We all are fascinated about these colourful fluttering beings. We see them everywhere around in our backyard, in gardens and even on mud. But do we really know much about them? Here is your chance to understand everything about butterflies.

BNHS Conservation Education Centre (CEC) brings you a hybrid course (online and field components) to learn about these winged beauties. Throughout this course, participants will be able to understand the identification of various butterflies, their classification, life cycle, places to visit to observe butterflies, life span, their habits and much more. What more, participants will also receive guidance on butterfly gardening!

Details of the course:

  • Duration of the course is six months (June 2017 to November 2017)
  • This course will contain online assignment submission, which includes online research, field work and nature activity once a month
  • Five field visits and one field camp will be organized during the course duration
  • Course fees are Rs. 8,000/- (without the copy of ‘Butterflies of India’ authored by butterfly expert Isaac Kehimkar) and Rs. 10,000/- (inclusive of the copy of ‘Butterflies of India’)


Who can enroll?

  • Anyone with an interest to learn about the butterflies of India and their conservation 
  • The basic qualification is 10th standard (any board) 
  • Basic understanding about use of computer and internet and access to the same

1. Introduction, identification and classification of butterflies
2. Butterfly hotspots in India and FAQs
3. Butterfly behaviour and research
4. Butterfly gardening in India
5. Butterflies - importance, threats and conservation
