As you must be aware, BNHS also engages in environment education with online correspondence courses conducted by BNHS CEC. The 'Basic Course in Ornithology' which is all about birds is set to begin shortly, with last few days to register for the same.

Mumbai: 6th June: The world of birds, with their vibrant colors, flight patterns, intricate nests and so much more, has always mesmerized people. Bird watching and bird photography are fast gaining popularity as hobbies with new people joining in. This interest in birds can be well accentuated with scientific knowledge to understand the world of birds in a simple yet scientific approach. BNHS Conservation Education Centre (CEC) provides this opportunity with the ‘Basic Course in Ornithology (BCO 2017-18)’. This year long course is a hybrid part-time certificate course with online and field components, the content for which is developed and revised from time to time by BNHS scientists.
 
Details of the Course:
Duration: One year (July 2017 to June 2018)
Coursework: Online assignments and field visits, chapters and assignments shall be shared in the first week of every month
Field Visits: Field visits will be usually held on Sundays or public holidays and field camps will also try to include weekends
Course Fees: Rs. 10,000/-
Last Date for Registration: 10th June 2017

BCO and its benefits:
·         Good insights into India’s bird-diversity, behavior, habitats, conservation issues and sustainable living
·         Opportunities to interact with scientists from BNHS and other organizations during camps, field visits and chats
·         Opportunity to document and learn bird-diversity, which may even result in research papers, publication of articles or an opportunity to work part time as a resource person with BNHS CEC 
·         A certificate from BNHS and grades based on performance and participation
 
Eligibility:
·         Anyone with an interest to learn about the biodiversity of India and its conservation
·         The basic qualification is 10th standard (any board)
·         Basic understanding about use of computer and internet
