Before reaching any conclusion we should focus on four things, e.g. what the literature says, logic adherence, Rational Ascetic teacher instruction and empirical viewpoint.
Jainism is an ancient tradition of nonviolence and, according to many of its contemporary adherents, deep ecological wisdom. Originating in India. It is a tradition that is relatively unknown in the West. Jainism affirm the reality of a universal moral principle of cause and effect called Karma. Derived from a Sanskrit language word meaning 'act', karma governs all action. It can be likened to Newton's Third Law of Motion: for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.
It is absolutely necessary that we should have a thorough knowledge of the word, ‘Dharma’ or religion, according Jainism because for thousands of years, innumerable wrong notions about Dharma have been nourished and held by people. Dharma or religion is neither a cult nor a creed; nor it is a reserved system of any community. Dharma is not entirely related either to an individual or to a society; nor is it confined to any area. Dharma is the essential nature of an individual or an object. Tirthankara [ford-Maker] Mahavira has explained the meaning of Dharma clearly thus:-
"Vatthu Sahavo Dhammo" [ Hindi Verse ]
Dharma is nothing but the real nature of an object. Just as the nature of fire is to burn and the nature of water is to produce a cooling effect, in the same manner, the essential nature of the soul is to seek self-realization and spiritual elevation. If we examine the matter thus, we find that Dharma acquires different definitions in different contexts but here is a simple and clear meaning of it; "Dharma is the name that can be given to all the elaborate codes of conduct and ideologies that enable life to attain nobility and spiritual exaltation". Dharma can be the only means to understand and realize the true meaning of life. Dharma in its real sense is that which leads the soul on the path of felicity, peace and spiritual bliss; and impels it to be active and progressive.

अष्टान्हिका पर्व #Shantinath ☺️ #share
राजा अपनी सबसे सुंदर और प्रिय पुत्री मैना सुंदरी से बोले, बेटी बताओ तुम किसके भाग्य से जी रही हो, तुम्हें कौन खिला रहा कौन तुम्हारा पालन पोषण कर रहा है। मैना सुंदरी ने कहा कि पिताजी मुझे जो भी मिला है वह मेरा भाग्य है, मैं अपने भाग्य का खाती हूं। कोई किसी को कुछ भी देने वाला नहीं है आप तो निमित्त मात्र हैं। इस पर राजा को गुस्सा आया और उसने मैना सुंदरी के भाग्य को जानने के लिए उसका विवाह एक कोढ़ी भिखारी से कर दिया।
भारतीय संस्कृति और परंपरा का निर्वहन करते हुए मैना सुंदरी ने अपने पिता द्वारा सुझाए गए वर के गले में वरमाला डालती है। यह दृश्य देखकर परिसर में बड़ी संख्या में उपस्थित दर्शकों की आंखों में आंसू बह निकलते हैं। मैना सुंदरी राजमहल से निकलकर पति के साथ जंगल में आ जाती है।
यहां उसे एक जैन मुनि साधना में लीन मिलते हैं। वह मुनिश्री से कर्मों की पूरी बात जानती है और इसका उपाय पूछती है। मुनिश्री कहते हैं कि तुम अष्टान्हिका पर्व के मौके पर श्री सिद्धचक्र महामंडल विधान करो और भगवान के अभिषेक का जल इन कोढिय़ों पर छिड़कना तो इनका रोग ठीक हो जाएगा। मुनि द्वारा बताए उपाय के अनुसार मैना सुंदरी विधान का आयोजन करती है और फिर कोढ़ी पति श्री पाल का रोग दूर हो जाता है।
इसलिए हुआ था श्रीपाल को कोढ़ मैना सुंदरी ने मुनिश्री से पूछा कि मेरे पति को कोढ़ क्यों हुआ। इस पर मुनिश्री ने बताया कि तुम्हारे पति पूर्व जन्म में राजा थे और यह अपने 700 साथियों के साथ जंगल में आए थे जहां दिगंबर मुनि को देखकर उन्हें कोढ़ी कहा और निंदा की इतना ही नहीं इन्होंने मुनि के ऊपर थूक भी दिया। इसी का फल इस जन्म में इन्हें मिला है और यह सभी कोढ़ी हुए हैं।
यही है महिमा विधान की अष्टान्हिका पर्व के मौके पर मैना सुंदरी ने मुनिश्री द्वारा बताए उपाय के मुताबिक श्री सिद्धचक्र महामंडल विधान भक्तिभाव पूर्वक किया था। जो भी व्यक्ति इस विधान को विधिपूर्वक करता है उसके सभी कर्मों का नाश होता है और वह फिर मोक्ष लक्ष्मी को प्राप्त करता है। यह विधान अष्टान्हिका पर्व के दौरान ही किया जाता है।
