Fourth day (29/Aug/2017) of Dashalakshna Mahaparva: Uttama Saucha dharma (Contentment or Purity) - To keep the body, mind and speech pure by discarding greed.
Saucham: avoiding greed and abstaining from possessive longing is called Saucham or purity of thought. The four kasaya are: krodha (anger), lobha (greed), mana (ego) and maya (deceit) and most difficult Kashaya to overcome is Greed. It is saucha dharma which can help us to achieve the level of ZERO greediness.
Nischya (Spiritual): Jain monks who are mahavrathis and follow soucha dharma to the highest level with purity in soul is called Nichya uttama Saucha dharma.
Vyavahara (Worldly life): We are not monks and it’s not easy for us to feel content but all should understand the real happiness comes from within, as it is the soul that possesses the quality of happiness is called Atma thrupti. We humans has a tendency to acquire worldly material more than our requirement without having any limit.
We should cultivate habits of being happy with what we have than craving for what we don’t have. Mainly these things happens when we try to compare what we possesses with others who have more and run behind acquiring more than them and there is never ending in this competition. Finally we end up not enjoying at least what we have.
Contentment and happiness is very important in everyone life, enjoy with your family, friends, environment, nature, resource and also make others feel happy which will supress greed.
