All the songs are meaningless, all the dramas are irony. All the ornaments make one heavy and all the sensual pleasures are the cause of unhappiness.

Philosophy and Reality
In ancient times, there were many schools of philosophy. It was a tradition to ponder philosophically over every conundrum. But in those days philosophers did not think of yoga as a philosophy. It was considered different from philosophy.
Philosophy was understood as explaining the truths of substance while yoga was understood as training in meditation. The philosophical aspect of sankhya was called philosophy whereas the process of meditation practice was called the yoga philosophy. They were separated.

Paryushan Parva
August 19 to August 26, Paryushan Parv was celebrated
As has been our tradition for many years now, we celebrated Paryushan Parv this year during August 19 to 26, under the auspicious guidance of Samani Sanmati Pragyaji and Samani Jayant Pragyaji. The weeklong festival started with the morning sessions during the weekend, on Saturday about power of karma, and continued on Sunday about role of karma in daily life. As usual, we had evening sessions every day, starting with Pratikraman, followed by very enlightening pravachan by the respected Samanijis. This year, the topics were - Power of Namokar Mahamantra and achieving and retaining our Samvektva. In the mornings, after the weekend, we had wonderful sessions - that began with Bhaktamer Jap followed by meditation (that included Vachan Gupti and Kaay Gupti Practice, Aum Jap, Aum Dhyan, etc.), and Pravachan Swadhyay on Raj Prashneeya Upang by respected Samani Jayant Pragyaji. During the daily Pratikraman, there was a suggested item tyag for a day (e.g. Pickle, red chili, papad, yogurt, cake, pasta, etc.). During the Paryushan week, Shri Mahipal Singhviji really encouraged everyone thru his simple and effective poetry, to open their wallets for the donation to JVBNA. As in last year, this year as well, on Samvatsari day, we had Paushadh Tapasya - living like a monk - for a day, in which a few Shravaks participated. We concluded the Parv with the annual Samvatsari Pratikram. On Sunday we had Samoohik Parna for the Tapasvees - Tapasya that included few Nawais, Attais, Telas, Belas, a day Upwas, Ekasans, Paushadh, etc. One notable Tapasya was by a mother daughter team - Dr Namrata Shah, and her daughter Tanvi Shah. Our Khamat Khamna To one and all.
