Jain Study Group Classes Registration

The  Jain Study Group (JSG), which is an integral part of Jain Center of Southern California (JCSC), was formed in 1997 with a goal to study principles of Jainism and practice them in daily lives.

The JSG is for young adults who are striving to progress spiritually on the path shown by Lord Mahavir. Members learn the absolute and practical aspects of Jain religion as applicable to current lifestyle through the interactive discourses and story sessions. These sessions help members to immerse into self reflection and introspection necessary to develop inner virtues and spiritual worthiness.

Each year about 50 members commit themselves to meet on Sunday mornings to learn the essence of Jain philosophy with a common goal of self improvement. We discuss a wide variety of topics such as basic tenets of Jainism, importance of human life, karma theory, vows of householders and monks, nine fundamentals, stories of great souls, etc.

If you would like to be a part of fun & interactive group which has serious desire to pursue path of enlightened ones, you have come to a right place. The JSG sessions are held on Sunday morning at Jain Center.

Group A - This is an English group which meets on Sundays from 10:00 AM - 12:30 PM during regular Pathshala days. Check Jain Center's website for Pathshala schedule.
Group B -- This is a Gujarati group which meets on non-pathshala Sundays.

To enroll in the JSG sessions, the minimum qualification is to show up with curiosity. We welcome individuals from all ethnic background who have aptitude to learn. If you are interested in joining the Jain Study Group (JSG),  please contact Shefali Parekh () or Tushar Shah() through email.

FOR EVERYODY!!!! ALL JCSC MEMBERS ARE WELCOME TO ATTEND THIS!!!

When - S
unday, September 17, 2017 from 8:00 PM  onwards

Where: At the Jain Center Main Hall

The first to apologize is the bravest. The first to forgive is the strongest. And the first to forget is the happiest.

The word Forgiveness ‘Kshama’ means patience, forbearance and pardon.  Inner peace can be reached only when we practice forgiveness. Forgiveness is the vehicle for changing our perception and letting go of our fears, condemning judgments and grievances.

Through this inspirational talk, Rahul Kapoor Jain will share how to make forgiveness a choice, and experience happiness (almost instantly). The ability to seek forgiveness, forgiving others and learning to ‘forgive and forget’ is an ornament of the brave. It requires deep understanding of psychology, science and spirituality to bring about lasting change in our behaviors and life.
Come experience the power of forgiveness.

Wellness Challenge - Read Every Day

For the upcoming weekly challenge, we are challenging the participants to “Read Every Day." Life used to be a lot simpler and easy and reading was one of the most popular forms of self-development and entertainment.  But these days, with the ever advancement and technology, there is more distraction and other things for people to do.  Many people have lost interest in reading, some children, even find it boring as they prefer to play video games or spend all their times on their phones.  This is a cry of shame, as reading offers many benefits, it also plays a vital role in children’s and adults development because it improves your ability to focus, retain information, think better and concentrate.
