आचार्यश्री ने अपने मंगल प्रवचन का प्रारम्भ मुनि मेघकुमार की कथा से आरम्भ करते हुए कहा कि एक बार राजा श्रेणिक उदास बैठा रहता है तो राजा का पुत्र अभयकुमार उनके पास आता है और उनके उदास चेहरे को देख उनसे उदासी का कारण पूछता है। राजा श्रेणिक अपने पुत्र को अपनी उदासी का कारण बताता है। अभयकुमार तीन दिन की तपस्या कर एक देव को प्रसन्न करता है और बनसे बरसात कराने का अनुरोध करता है। बरसात होती है, राजा श्रेणिक अपनी पत्नी के साथ हाथी पर चढ़कर क्रीड़ा को जाते हैं। उसके उपरान्त एक बालक का जन्म होता है और उसका नाम मेघकुमार रखा जाता है। बड़े होने के साथ ही मेघकुमार के अंदर दीक्षा के भाव जागृत होते हैं, किन्तु माता के कथनानुसार पहले वे राजा बनते हैं और तत्काल बाद भगवान महावीर के पास दीक्षा स्वीकार कर लेते हैं। रात में सोने के समय हुई असुविधा से क्षुब्ध होकर वे भगवान महावीर के पास साधुपने का त्याग करने पहुंचते हैं और भगवान महावीर द्वारा उनके हाथी वाले भव की याद दिलाकर उनके सहिष्णुता, दया के भाव को जागृत करते हैं और मुनि मेघकुमार पूर्ण रूप से समर्पित हो जाते हैं। इस प्रकार आचार्यश्री ने लोगों को मनुष्य गति प्राप्त करने के चार कारणों से अवगत कराया।
