Story#35: FIGHTING OF PEACOCK, SNAKE, LION AND ELEPHANT

Look for two stone reliefs with animal's right behind the main temple on the lower side panel.

One depicts a peacock and a snake, and the other a lion and an elephant. These reliefs signify that when animals broke the sanctity of these holy hills, monks meditating here would calm them down by saying, “Oh living beings, anger and hatred on this holy hill are sins, calm down and be at peace”. Hearing their voice, they calmed down and went their way.

Story#36: RYAN TREE, THE TREE OF CELESTIAL BEINGS

It is believed that Adinath meditated and preached under this tree, and that demigods reside in each and every leaf and branch of this tree. They worshiped an Adinath idol made of precious stones placed here by King Bharat.

Devotees go around this tree 3 times.

There is a belief that if the tree sprinkles you with its milk while you circle around it, you are very close to achieving salvation.

8. TRIPADI

The Tripadi given by Bhagwan Mahavir to his Gandharas is like an alchemy that guarantees transmutation of any substance into gold. This gold producing chemical is amazing. The Tripadi has given words the form of Aagams, the supreme scriptures. An Alchemy does not produce new material but can transmute base metals into gold.

The compassionate lord saw the entire universe in his infinite knowledge and realized the pain and sufferings of all living beings. He saw ignorance to be the root cause of all sufferings. To dispel the darkness of ignorance and spread the knowledge of light, he gave the Tripadi.

9. CHILDREN'S CORNER

IMPORTANCE OF NAMOKAR MANTRA

Once, a man was going to the market. On the way, a hurt ox was lying on the ground. Seeing the ox, the man became restless. He felt that the ox was about to die, so the man sat near it and began to recite the Namokar Mantra. Hearing the Namokar Mantra, the heart of ox became calm and it died with good feelings. In the next birth it became the son of a King. There he got many palaces, beautiful cloths, ornaments, etc. If an animal gets a good life by hearing the Namokar Mantra, then why will we not get the peace and happiness by reciting the Namokar Mantra?
Every day we should recite the Namokar Mantra to destroy our sins.
