Auspicious Akshaya Tritiya was celebrated in the benign presence of His Holiness Acharya Mahashraman at Visakhapatnam. 93 Tapasvis of Varshitap (The Tapasya in which hermit keeps fasting (Upavas) on every alternate day for one year) reached in the holy feet of His Holiness for Parana of their one year fast. They offered the Sugarcane juice to His Holiness before breaking the fast. A huge number of lay followers were fortunate to witness this auspicious occasion.
His Holiness Acharya Mahashraman preached about some rules in the Prime Sermon on the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya - there are nine rules, pursuance of which are important during the period of practicing Varshitap for the Tapasvis of Varshitap who are practicing this Tapasya -

1. 11 rosary of "Om Rishabhaya Namah" should be chanted daily.
2. Meditation for Half an hour Daily.
3. Maun (taciturnity) for one hour daily.
4. Industriousness of continence.
5. Practicing one Samayika daily.
6. Abatement of Sachitta (Animate beings or conscious one) and Jamikand (edible tuber of any of several yams)
7. Chauvihar (Not to accept food and water from sunset to next sunrise). If practicing Chauvihar is not possible then Tivihar (Not to accept food from sunset to next sunrise but water can be taken) can be practiced.
8. Pratikraman once daily or Swadhyaya and chanting during that period.
9. Industriousness of forgiveness - Hurting word should not be used for anyone during Varshitap, perhaps, if it happens due to ascent of Mohaniya Karma, then salt, suger or red chili powder should not be taken on the day of Parana.
These 9 rules are nine ornaments for the performers of Varshitap Tapasya. When the gent like Varshitap adopts these ornaments then it becomes very graceful.
