Importance of āgamas is self evident for acquiring knowledge of Jainism. From historical perspective, the most ancient form of Jain religion and philosophy is available in āgamas. From the point of view of validity, the eleven agas are self-valid sources. Other sources which we get through the Acharyas can be valid if and only if its contents are in coherence with the contents of āgamas.
