RSVP During Paryushan

All Paryshan events (Ekasana and Swamivatsalya) will require RSVP. This is the Jain way as we wish to avoid wasting food. We have simplified the process and details will be published soon. It will be something similar to airline boarding where RSVP response will be an unique QR code and we will scan the QR code during Ekasana/Swamivatsalya and we will know who were the no-shows.

“Maun Sadhana" Shibir - Aug 10 - Aug 11, 2019

Venue: Aradhana Hall

In India, more than 700 sadhaks participate in the MAUN SHADHNA SHIBIR conducted by Param Pujya Acharya Shri Yashovijayasurishwariji m.s.. Yet everyone doesn’t get a place and they have to wait for future shibir.

We are experiencing enrollment very quickly here too. In just past four days, 46 sadhaks have registered for this shibir.

Therefore, we urge you not to delay such a rare occasion and register your and your family's names quickly.

Why this Shibir is called rare?

1. Param Pujya Acharya Shri Yashovijayasurishwarji Maharaj has blessed our Pujya Shri Girishbhai for conducting this shibir. This is a rarity. This is first time ever United States. That is special!!! It's amazing..!

2. Silence Shibir is not just about the silence of words.. but the silence of words is helpful for the silence of the mind & the silence of the mind is helpful for the introspection and introversion (અંતર્મુખતા), which can lead the Atma becoming one with itself (આત્મપ્રવેશ)... to the mind not being distracted with attachments and aversions, (નિર્વિકલ્પતા),. આત્મલીનતા)..... And to Self realization.

3. Tremendous benefit of achieving calmness of MIND will bring Real Peace of Mind which in turn will bring equanimity in life." Pujya Shree Girishbhai

4. PP Acharya Shri Yashovijayji Maharaj in effort to revive Jain Dhyan Parkriya has developed a practical aspect of meditation. This Shibir will help participants to get some understanding about Antar Dhyan Yatra. It is unique and doesn't require deep scriptural knowledge. If one wants to get some flavor of Adhyatma Yatra this one is right one to join in.

5. Self realization: The essence of human life is to purify the soul and progress on the path of self-realization. Such a pursuit minimizes our Attractions (Raag), Aversions (Dwesh) and Ego centeredness (Ahankar). Meditation then becomes natural and effortless. Silence (Maun) is an important catalyst for internalizing the essence of Honourable Gurudev’s preachings. It will lead us to a path of inwardness, introspection, and purity of soul.

This Shibir will give you the opportunity to put knowledge into practice. We request you to register as soon as possible.

Bhojanshala Details For Aug 10 - 11, 2019

We have scheduled a Maun Shibir on August 10-11 and participants of the Shibir need to have their meals in a private quiet environment. In order to accommodate this request, we will reserve the dining area exclusively for the Shibir participants for Aug 10 -11, 2019.

Bhojanshala for all the members NOT PARTICIPATING in the Maun Shibir will be arranged in the NEW PROPERTY.

Everyone planning to have lunch at Bhojanshala is requested to proceed with the new property around the building through the parking lot and not through the dining area.

Wellness Challenge - "Practise Anekantvada"

In this week's challenge you must “Practise Anekantvada (many-sidedness)”. Anekantvada(many-sidedness) refers to the principles of pluralism and multiplicity of viewpoints, or vantage points, the notion that reality is perceived differently from diverse points of view, and that no single point of view is the complete truth, yet taken together they comprise the complete truth. It is one of the most important and fundamental doctrines of Jainism.. If you are interested in learning more and participating, click here.

3) Vegan Recipe Book

I'm attaching two things. First is my presentation for the lecture I gave at the YJA convention in Los Angelas a few years back. It was meant to be an insight into moving towards the vegan direction when it comes to diet. Geared towards the younger generation, taking them through the transition, diet, and recipes. I spoke to the slides a great deal so check out the notes section under each slide for more details. It's also animated in slideshow view. I did not focus on the ethical, health, or environmental aspect of veganism because I was told that there were other lectures at JYA that dealt with those topics.

I also attached an excel sheet I put together on vegan product substitutes. Few things to note:
  • I put them into categories, stores you can find them at, and any notes I had
  • I've tried all of these products at some point or another
  • There are MANY vegan brands now, so I listed the top substitutes and my favorite ones
  • These products are vegan, but not necessarily JAIN. I believe Seema was going to check which ones also fit the JAIN diet.
  • For the store location, please note that not all Ralphs or Whole Foods are identical. They stalk brands and products based on demand, so use that column as a guideline, but check your local stores.

And if any of you are wondering...yes we keep 3 different SILK plant-based milks in our fridge all the time for different uses haha:) I listed out other options as well since I know peoples taste buds differ.

Hopefully this list helps. If you have any other questions at all, please don't hesitate to reach out. If I forgot a category, let me know and I'll add it in as I'm sure I missed something.

Thank you!
