The Institute of Jainology (IOJ) has been celebrating Ahimsa Day for five years.
Each year it acknowledges a personality who contributes actively to the theme of Ahimsa, a cardinal principle of Jain philosophy.

Jain Vishva Bharati are greatly honoured that on 15 October 2008 at the House of Commons, Acharya Mahapragyaji, Head of Terapanth Dharma Sangha has been bestowed with the 2008 IOJ Ahimsa Award in recognition for his endeavours in “Alleviation of Global Poverty”

The event includes Bhaktamar Paath, a Musical Programme, Magic Show, a Skit by Gyanshala Children “Food, Friends and Fun”, Discourse by Samaniji and a Talk on Relevance of Non-Violence in the Modern Age by Vinodbhai Kapasi
