Manju Nahata

An artist who explores the surrealism of religion and philosophy through the domain of her artwords, Manju Nahata has recently received a Ph.D. in Interpretation of Anekantavada through Paintings. She had previously successfully completed a four year diploma course (Indian Style of Painting) from the Institute of Visual Arts, Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata. Receipient of awards such as the prestigious Brahmi Kala Puraskar from Vichar Manch, Kolkata (1990), Mrinal Kanti Award from Institute of Visual Arts, Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata (1994), Pratibha Puraskar from Akhil Bhartiya Terapanth Mahila Mandal (2000) and the Jain Vidya Puraskar from Jain Vishva Bharati, Ladnun, Rajasthan (2005) Her Group Exhibitions include: 1991 -- Annual Exhibition organised by Indian Society of Oriental Arts, Kolkata. 1992 -- Art in Aluminium, Organised by Indian Aluminium Company Ltd. at Gallery Chemould, Kolkata. 1992 -- Annual Exhibition organised by Indian Society of Oriental Arts, Kolkata. 1993 -- Annual Exhibition of Institute of Visual Arts, Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata. 1994 -- Annual Exhibition of Institute of Visual Arts, Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata. 1994 -- Annual Exhibition organised by Indian Society of Oriental Arts, Kolkata. 1994 -- All India 59th Annual Exhibition Organised by the Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata. 1995 -- Annual Exhibition organised by Indian Society of Oriental Arts, Kolkata. 2001 -- An Exhibition, A Memorabilia on Jainism, Organised by Bhagavan Mahavira 2600th Birth Anniversary Celebration Commitee, Kolkata. Her Solo Exhibitions: 1987 -- An Exhibition of Aluminium Foil Paintings at Kolkata. 1997 -- An Exhibition of paintings at Birla Academy of Art & Culture, Kolkata. 2006 -- An Exhibition of Mural Painting (56’ x 4’) at Indian Museum, Kolkata. Her work is mostly held in private art collections.
