Establishment Of “Samayak View Point” by Continuosly Studying the Scriptures and Religious Books

Kolkata, 18 August 2009 - The second day of Paryushan Parv organized by the Terapanthi Sabha, Kolkata at the Mahasabha Bhawan, was celebrated as the “Swadhyaya Diwas” in the pious presence of Sadhvi Kanakshri ji. The day is of special relevance in today’s world of modern materialistic & money centered environment where education has lost it’s true meaning and is limited to reading or cramming a book to enable oneself to earn livelihood in future through the use of the education undertaken.

Addressing the gathering of over 1500 lay followers at Mahasabha Samawsaran Sadhvi Kanak shri ji said, “The study of self and scriptures provides benevolence to the personality. One who spends time in understanding and contemplating the scriptures is superfluous to the worldly tensions. He isn’t occupied with ill thoughts. A person practicing regular Swadhyaya has clarity and decisive thoughts. It beautifies ones internal soul. She further advised the present Shrawaks & Shrawikas to enjoy this eternal relief by studying the texts penned down by Acharya Mahaprajna. By doing so one is sure to find a never ending peace & solutions to its entire problem. Swadhyaya establishes optimism and a samyak (righteous) view-point. Lord Mahavira, when took birth as Nayasar; attained Samyaktav (clarity and purity and thoughts). Sadhvishri also said that even Lord Mahavira had to take numerous births before attaining salvation. Lord Mahavira took twenty seven births before gaining salvation and after being born as Nayasar, all of which have been illustrated in the Jain Scriptures. He first came into communion with the Shramans (Saints) in his birth as Nayasar. He donated pure grains. Took directives, listened to the discourses, and used them in his life. A spiritual revolution was a result of the above. This was the birth of his conscious spiritual thinking. ”

The regular evening Pratikraman was attended by over 500 lay followers. The North Howrah Sabha members participated in the uninterrupted Namokar Mantra chanting in the night.

In the evening a programme on musical house was organized by The North Howrah Terapanthi Sabha. Many followers participated as singers of the selected spiritual songs and many in the audience participated in musical house based on selection on such spiritual songs. The winners were given mementoes.
