Sadhvi Kanak Sri ji, learned disciple of enlightened Acharya Shri Mahapragya ji in her elucidation on the event of Diwali addressed the devotees saying - Diwali has an important place amongst the festivals celebrated internationally. Historical context of lives of many a great personage is associated with this festival. This festival of lights teaches us to move from darkness towards light by lighting the lamp of determination. It symbolizes the win of good over evil by washing away the soot of treachery and lighting the lamp of virtues.
Organised by the Terapanthi Sabha, Kolkata at the Mahasabha Bhawan; in the gathering of lay followers, Sadhvi Kanak shri ji said - today Diwali has its meaning confined to just bursting of crackers and performing the Laxmi Puja. It is expected that people understand the importance of this festival in its true context. Celebrate it as a festival of life. This is possible only when we understand this festival in a new context, new meaning, new values and higher aims.
Explaining Diwali as a festival of the last Teerthankar Lord Mahavira’s final liberation and Ganadhar Shri Indrabhuti Gautam’s “day of attainment of absolute knowledge” she said - by lighting the lights of knowledge one can attain salvation.
Sadhvishri encouraged lighting the lamps of amity, humanity and morality on this festival of lights by saying - before inviting Goddess Laxmi we should sacrifice liquor, gambling and unchastity. Cordial relationship, affection, good sense and good behavior be ensured for fortune’s constant stay. Sadhvi Madhulata ji sang in her beautiful voice “Friends! Light your inner soul”, encouraged lighting the lamps of internal purity, knowledge, faith and patience. Sadhvi Madhulekha ji also put forth her relevant thoughts.
