Prof. Hampa Nagarajaiah, one of the prominent literator fromKarnataka and well known all over India and abroad, has authoredmore than 70 books in Kannada and English and large number ofpapers. His writings, spread over four decades, cover a wide rangeof topics incorporating different disciplines and fields of research.Some of his books have been translated into English, Hindi, Marathi,Gujarati, Tulu, Tamil and Telugu also.
He has taught undergraduate and post-graduate students forover 37 years. He has served Kannada Sahitya Parishad, both asSecretary as well as President, each for 8 years. With ‘Hampana’as his nom de plume, he is a recipient of a number of State andNational Awards. Contemporary Literati have honoured him with sixfestschrifts.
Dr. Nagrajaiah has presented a large number of papers at theNational and International Conferences, Symposia etc, and deliveredEndowment and Foundation Lectures in various Universities andInstitutions. His contribution to the study of Indology in general andJainology, in particular, is significant and seminal.
