Thus Spoke Mahavira

The Arhats of the past, those of the present and the future affirm thus: One should not injure, subjugate, enslave, torture or kill any animal, living being, organism or sentient being.
This doctrine of Non-Violence (Ahimsa) is immaculate, immutable and eternal."
(ACHARANGA SUTRA, CH. 4)

Only that science is the great and the best of all sciences, the study of which frees man from all kinds of miseries.
(Isibhasiya, 7/1)

To deny the existence of mutually conflicting view-points about a thing would mean to deny the true nature of reality.
(ACHARANGA SUTRA)

Let me renounce the bondage of attachment and hatred, pride and humbleness, curiosity, fear, sorrow, indulgence and repugnance (in order to accomplish equanimity).
(Mulachara 2/44)

Not to hurt anybody is the quintessence of wisdom
(ACHARANGA SUTRA)
