Preksha Meditation in Meizo Shiatsu and Okido Yoga Centres of Italy

Samani Prasanna Pragya and Samani Rohit Pragya were invited by Okido Yoga centres of various cities in Italy to lead a workshop on “Stress Management and How to Change Negative Emotions into Positive”.

PESARO:

On 24 November 2010, the first workshop was organised at Pesaro centre. Marco, the director of the centre introduced both the samanijis. The workshop was divided in two parts. In the first part Samani Prasanna Pragya spoke on above said subject. She explained about the stress and ways to get rid of it with simple and live examples. In the second part of workshop Samani Rohit Pragya led the practice of Preksha Meditation, Relaxation and Mantra chanting. The workshop was attended by twenty participants. Translation of both the sessions was done by Dianella, the director of the Rimini Okido Yoga centre and Marisa, the teacher of Rimini centre.

COLBORDOLO:

On 25 November, Samanijis met to Master Yuji Yahiro in his dozo known as Libera University, situated at Colbordolo. During the Meeting Master requested samanijis to explain about the principles of Jainism in all the centres of Okido yoga in Italy. When samaniji asked about the role of vegetarianism to develop spirituality, he said that vegetarian diet is undoubtedly good for spiritual progress but if one takes that food also in more quantity, it will be harmful for body and obstacle in spiritual development. According to him, one should concentrate on not only quality of food but also the quantity of food. He requested samanijis to open a Preksha centre in Italy and also expressed his desire to meet Acharya Mahashramanji. Samanijis presented Jain literature to Master Yuji Yahiro.

FORLI:

On 25 November, the workshop was conducted at the centre situated at Forli. After samanijis’ speech, participants asked many questions related to Jainism and Preksha Meditation. They felt relaxed physically as well as mentally after practising Kayotsarga. Translation was done by one of the teachers named Naila. Maurizio, the director of the centre paid gratitude to both the samanijis for sharing their knowledge.

RIMINI:

On 26 November, workshop was held at Niko Niko centre of Rimini. Dianella introduced Samanijis to the participants. Samani Prasanna Pragya spoke about causes and effects of mental stress and said that if one really wants to lead a peaceful life, he needs to control over unnecessary thoughts, memories and imagination. She inspired to participants to live in present by explaining the benefits of it. Samani Rohit Pragya conducted the session of practice of perception of deep breathing and alternate breathing.

On 28 November, again at Rimini centre, one day workshop was held in which about twenty five participants took part. Samaniji spoke about the effect of negative emotions on body and mind. She emphasised on the most dangerous emotion called anger and reflected on the ways to get control over it. Along with Relaxation, the practice of perception of centre of enlightenment has been led. Participants asked many questions about Jainism, Preksha Meditation and the life of Jain ascetic as well as Jain samani.

VICENZA:

On 26 November, Samanijis were invited to Sanatan dharma mandirof Vicenza. Samani Prasanna Pragya spoke on main principles of Jainism called - Ahimsa, Aparigrahaand Anekant.She encouraged audience to apply these principles in day to day life and make their life better. Lecture was followed by Bhakti.

NAPLES:

On 30 November, three workshops were held in which ninety people took part. Senior teacher Angela introduced Samanijis, Jainism, and life of Jain monk. She said “If I would have not born in Italy, I would have definitely born in Jain family of India”. Annamaria and Carlos were very much impressed by the practice of Mantra chanting and Meditation. Maria said “I like the idea of keeping the cloth in front of mouth while speaking”. Samaniji spoke on “Be free from Negativity and stress”. She defined ‘house’ and ‘home’ as well as ‘family’ and ‘crowed’ and inspired people to turn a house in a home and crowed in a family. In all three workshops lecture was followed by practical exercises. Translation of all the workshops was done by Dianella, Annamaria and Carlos.


During the seven days stay of Samanijis in Italy, about 200 Italians knew about Jainism, Preksha Meditation and life of Jain ascetic.
