Dr. A.N. Upadhye - His Life And Accomplishments: 6. Closing Remarks

Dr. A.N. Upadhye was a great scholar of the 20th century who earned national and international reputation in the field of Jainology, Indology, Prakrit literature and Languages. He has left behind a heap of valuable gems of books for scholars of future generations. His work for the promotion of Prakrit and Jainological studies is unforgettable. Several of the important details of his work and accomplishments are not known to the present scholars and others. Hence the need of such publication.

Dr. B.K. Khadabadi was a close and trusted student of Dr. Upadhye from 1947 to 1976. He was associated with his teacher on many occasions and in several capacities. Hence he could speak and write about Dr. Upadhye with authority and certainty. Following the footsteps of Dr. Upadhye along the path of Prakrit and Jainological studies and research, he has brought out about 25 books of considerable importance. Recognizing this Dr.Khadabadi has been so far honoured with four national level Awards and one state level Award, the last being Acharya Vidyanand Award (1998) instituted by the Bharatiya Jnanapith, Delhi.

Formerly being in the form of special lectures on Dr.Upadhye meant for delivering at the Mysore and Karnatak Universities, Dr. Khadabadi has put them in the form of a significant book for the benefit of scholars and other interested persons and institutions and we are proud to publish it.
