Welcome to the 3rd JAINpedia e-newsletter.

The team at JAINpedia are delighted that the www.jainpedia.org beta site is now live. Over 5,000 images from the Jain manuscript collections at the British Library, Victoria and Albert Museum, Bodleian Libraries and Welcome Trust are on the website. The website also includes more than 70 original articles written by Professor Nalini Balbir, with links to glossariesbibliographieswebsites and images which are also available.

We plan to quadruple the content on the site over the next twelve months, as well as adding e-books and the Jain Spirit magazines.

We look forward to receiving your comments and feedback!

On October 14th, we held an event at the Mahalaxmi Race Course in Mumbai, to demo the JAINpedia site to 100 invited guests. We were overwhelmed with the response and good wishes. To read more about this event, you can read our blog entry here.

Get Involved!

Volunteers are an important part of the project and are assisting in all areas. They can choose to guide exhibition visitors, work on general events and the travelling exhibition, or contribute to the website by scanning books for the e-library, sourcing media for the articles, and much much more. To become more involved with this groundbreaking project, fill in the volunteer form on the JAINpedia blog, and do your bit to bring an ancient religion into the new millenium.

We at the Institute of Jainology and JAINpedia would like to wish you all a happy festive season and best wishes for the New Year.
