You will be delighted to know that at the eve of 'Parvadhiraj Parushan' we are publishing a book in Hindi focusing on 'Jain Painting Tradition' which is a subject almost unknown to the disciples of 'Teerthankar Mahavir'. This subject is limited within the ambit of art historians and some scholars only. The common people are aware of Jain Architecture, Sculpture, engravings etc but the majority of Jain Community is unaware of this great heritage of her own which is unparallel in the world. In the context of Indian painting tradition, the entire credit for the continuity of painting discipline in India should be given to the Jain community only as at the cost of their lives, the artists continued to depict the Jain compositions and the 'Bhattaraks', Survived these illustrated manuscripts in the establishments adjoining Jain temples.

The book comprises this entire story with colorful pictures of an illustrated 'Kalpsutra' executed during the reign of Akabar in 1593 A.D. The significant feature of the book is that it contains two chapters on the Indian Painting Tradition as well as on the Jain philosophy and its Journey so that the complete picture of this great and unique tradition of Jain Painting may emerge.

The book is written by an eminent art historian and essayist Shri Narmada Prasad Upadhyaya. This the first book of its type.

Kindly view the attached file for the details of the book, 'Jain Chitrankan Parampara' (Ahor Kalpsutra Ke Vishesh Santharbha Main).
