Young Jains Of America

Our team of 15 Executive Board Members and various local representatives have been hard at work during the last 6 months. We wanted to give you an update of our activities and also ask humbly for any support you can give us as we venture on to accomplish more in the next 6 months.

Youth Activities @ 2013 JAINA Convention

Your Youth Activities Programming Committee has been working around the clock to make sure the 2013 JAINA Convention experience is unforgettable for youth ages 13-20.  This year, sessions range from leadership and philosophy to testing our Jain knowledge with our newest competition: Jain Family Feud.  We will feature speakers from around the country, as well as familiar faces from the Jain community. Our unique programming will expose youth to models of Jains and non-Jains that are currently living Jain values in their personal and professional lives.

But that’s not all!  Youth will enjoy some never-seen-before social activities including “Friday Night Lights” where they will represent their favorite sport, college, or high school team’s clothing while indulging in fun games and yummy snacks throughout the night. Saturday night’s “Around the World” formal will be exclusive to Youth Activities only, given youth a chance to experience different cultures - all in one night. Email us at for more information or join our Facebook group made for YA attendees ONLY: https://www.facebook.com/groups/ya.jaina13/.

Support YJA Infrastructure Costs

In order to keep YJA running, we have many behind the scenes expenses that must be met. Your support in these areas can help us keep YJA running smoothly. For example, did you know that for just $300 you can sponsor our domain name and hosting for the year?

Here are other areas you can sponsor:

  • Webinar software: $150/year
  • asecamp project management system: $180/year
  • egional events (dinner/game night/sleepover): $200 (event for 15 attendees)
  • mail marketing system: $600/year
  • egional retreats: $2,000/retreat (event for 15 attendees)

We hope you can support us in these and many other areas.  Donations are tax-deductible and can be made securely using JainLink - visit the YJA Donation page to contribute today!  Please don't hesitate to contact us at if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you!

JainKids Project

YJA is helping with a special educational project to take Jain education into the 21st century. Thanks to dedicated volunteers, we have completed editing and revising lessons for pre-kindergarten to 3rd grade students, and are now working on the corresponding storybooks and future lessons. Currently, we need volunteers to read and edit short, 1-3 page lessons across all age categories. No specific knowledge of Jain tenets is necessary; these lessons were written by adults who were not born and brought up here, and they need our suggestions to make Jain lessons more reader-friendly to Indian-American youth.

In addition, the coordinators of this project welcome any volunteers who are familiar with app development, web design, and musical composition in order to incorporate songs and technology into Jain lessons. Contact if you are interested in volunteering. This is a great way to give back to the Jain community, have a voice in deciding what's important to the Jain education of future generations, and learn some new things along the way!

YJA.org Receives a Makeover!

Our web design team has given YJA.org a complete makeover, ensuring that up-to-date information is always at the hands of the Jain community and its youth. With our new web design, important dates, deadlines and event information can be found on the homepage, Calendar of Events, and individual region pages. We encourage you to bookmark these pages and check back frequently for updated information.

We also post our bi-monthly e-newsletters, frequent blog posts where readers can comment and provide feedback, and our quarterly Young Minds publication featuring articles BY the youth FOR the youth. Visitors can also find information on Jain education, including PowerPoint presentations of our past YJA educational webinars.

Please take a moment to visit YJA.org today!

Huffington Post: JAINA Blog

A Writer’s Circle consisting of members from both the YJA and JAINA community are maintaining JAINA’s very own page on the Huffington Post. We encourage you to read, share, and comment on these published articles. This project continues to grow, and we are excited to share even more articles from both adult and youth writers in the near future. If you are interested in submitting an article, contact .
