Tamkor welcomed some esteemed guests over the Diwali holiday period. Arti Jain, Himmat Malde and Indira Malde had made the journey from London to visit the holy place of Acharya Mahapragya’s birth. During their two day stay, they were shown the home where Acharya Mahapragya was born, took darshan of some of the temples, and were given a tour of Mahapragya International School, of which, they are kind patrons.

They were happily received at Pragya Bhavan by Samani Pratibha Pragya and Samani Punya Pragya, along with some of the students of the school, who had organised a small program in honour of their visitors.

The children welcomed them in the traditional manner, with garlands and tilaks, before commencing their program in front of a gathered audience of teachers, patrons, and other respected guests. The children sang a song, before giving some impressive speeches in English.

This was followed by a display of their Capoiera skills, a Brazilian martial art. Their performance was testament to their hard work and effort, as well as that of their Capoiera teacher, Miss Gabriela Guiterrez.

Our guests from London then spoke about their pleasure in coming to India in order to renew their connections with the country. In particular, they mentioned the vital role that the samanis played in keeping their ties to the Jain community fresh and ongoing whilst living in London.

Congratulations were then given to the students, commending their achievements and the wonderful performance they had delivered. The program was concluded with some words by Samani Pratibha Pragya… From Tamkor, they continued upon their journey to Jain Vishva Bharati Institute, Ladnun, where they attended the celebrations of Acharya Tulsi’s birth centenary.
