JVBNA announces the arrival of the fourth year of JVBNA Gyanshala - the 2007-2008 session. Through the instruction of Jainism and Science of Living, JVBNA Gyanshala strives to impart to its students, life skills for physical, mental and emotional health, a stress free and peaceful life, and spiritual bliss. It also strives to inculcate life values in children that help them grow into responsible adults, who respect and care for their fellow living beings and the environment, who tolerate other religious beliefs and who have empathy for those who are less fortunate.

With the blessings of H.H. Acharyashri Mahaprajna and under the guidance of Samanijis, Gyanshala will commence this year on Sunday, October 7, 2007 and will run until Sunday, May 18, 2008. Classes will be held Sunday afternoons from 4pm-6pm at the First Presbyterian Church, 1295 Oak Tree Road, Iselin, NJ 08830. Each 2-hour class will include three mandatory subsections – Jainism, Science of Living (Prayer, Yoga & Meditation) and Hindi Language. Classes will be taught by Samanijis, volunteer teachers and guest speakers.

Children who complete 5 - 17 years of age on September 30, 2007 may apply for enrollment. Please fill out the attached registration form and enclose the annual registration fee of $101 in the form of a check payable to JVBNA and mail it to the JVBNA center. Please write your child’s name and ‘Gyanshala’ on your check. The annual registration fee covers registration, tuition and study materials for the entire year. All returning students also need to fill out the registration form and pay the registration fees. Please register by September 30, 2007, so that we can ensure a space for your child in Gyanshala and are able to plan accordingly. After this date, enrollment cannot be guaranteed and will only be done on a space available basis. All registration will close on October 31, 2007.

After enrollment, all students will be placed in one of four groups based on their age and/or grade level on September 30, 2007. The four age groups are –

1) Beginner 1 (Ages 5-7; Grades K-2)
2) Beginner 2 (Ages 8-10; Grades 3-5)
3) Intermediate (Ages 11-13; Grades 6-8)
4) Advanced (Ages 14-17; Grades 9-12)

To ensure a positive learning experience for all, students will be expected to follow Gyanshala rules and be respectful to Samanijis, teachers and fellow students.

JVBNA Gyanshala is always looking for more volunteer teachers and substitutes for all its classes. Please get actively involved with the spiritual upliftment of our children and volunteer your time and talent for Gyanshala. Even if you have never taught before - Samanijis are always here to provide you with training and support. Remember - teaching is another way of learning and growing.

If you have any more questions and/or if you would like to get involved with Gyanshala, please do not hesitate to contact the Samanijis at the JVBNA center. We look forward to meeting you and your child(ren) in October!
