A form of Lokopacāra Vinaya (formal rules of modesty);

observance of modesty to the teacher on the ground that 'he has imparted knowledge to me'.

kāryaṃ- śrutaprāpaṇādikaṃ hetuṃ kṛtvā, śrutaṃ prāpito'hamaneneti hetorityartho, viseṣeṇa vinaye tasya varttitavyaṃ tadanuṣṭhānaṃ ca karttavyam.
