Kharaśvara

One of the fifteen types of Paramādhārmika Deva (a type of Asurakumāra Deva (a kind of Mansion-dwelling god) who inflict pain to the infernal beings);

those Asura Devas (demons) who, by creating the (infernal) tree called śālmalī which is full of thorns like vajra (the hardest substance), hang the infernal beings on the thorns and then pull them apart while they are screaming.

kappaṃti karakaehiṃ, tacchiṃti paropparaṃ parasuehiṃ.

siṃvvalitarumāruhaṃti, kharassarā tattha neraiyā.
