Speaker Jyotindra Doshi at the Religions for Peace – USA Gathering

On January 23-25, 2006, Religions For Peace-USA invited various interfaith leaders, devote to the faith of Baha'i, Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Jainism, Judaism, Shinto, Sikhism, Zoroastrians, Unitarians and others to the Crown Plaza at Chicago O'Hare, to hold an open forum. Jyotindra Doshi was asked to deliver a speech in behalf of JAINA, the Jain Society of Metropolitan Chicago (JSMC), and the Jain Faith. His speech was titled ‘Jainism – The Vision For Peace’. Kirit C. Daftary, JAINA President, Arvin Vora, JAINA Interfaith Chair, Jyotindra N. Doshi, and the board of trustees had made great efforts for this presentation.

Jyotindrabhai N. Doshi explained the role of JAINA, the Jain Society, and the Jain Faith. He discussed Ahinsa (Ahimsa), the concept of non-violence, which propounds not to be indulged in physical, verbal, or mental violence. He also focused on how to achieve domestic, national and international peace, and how to promote this message to young people via high schools and colleges.

Then Jyotindra Doshi presented the complimentary JAINA educational book titled "Essence of World Religion" to Rev. Bud Heckman, executive director of Religions for Peace-USA. Samani Sanmati Pragya from JVB Houston, Texas, expressed her thoughts about this type of program and the Jain Faith.

All representatives exchanged their views and enjoyed fruitful discussions. Rev. Bud Heckman, Rev. Leonid Kishkovski, moderator of Religions for Peace- USA, and all of their staff did an excellent job by organizing this program.
