The talk will be highly participative. The speaker is Ketan Varia, who is a management consultant and also a teacher at Shri Chandana Vidyapeeth Jain School in London.
The bethaks are open to all, so do bring your friends, family, work colleagues etc. Please confirm your attendance by email to Laxmiben at .
External Info of Interest - Add Jains to the UK census
As the Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group, I am proud to campaign for a specific Jain box on the UK census.
At the last census, in 2011, only 20,000 people identified themselves as Jains. This number is under representative of the size of the Jain community in the UK, which is estimated to be between 40,000 and 50,000.
It is vital that the census contains correct information concerning the make-up of the UK. The government and other bodies allocate resources in line with the information gathered by the census. Jains have specific dietary requirements, are prone to certain medical conditions and have specific chaplaincy needs. Therefore, having a specific tick box for Jains it is vital for the fair allocation of resources for their community.
