Samani Prasanna Pragya | Samani Manan Pragya |
On 1 May Samani Prasanna Pragya and Samani Manan Pragya were welcomed by Young Jain Students Warwick (YJSW), to give a presentation on ‘Meditation and Exams’. The event attracted around 26 participants of different nationalities, ages and beliefs. They all came together with a keen interest to learn how meditation can improve our mental capabilities.
Anokhee Shah (President of YJSW) introduced the Samani after which they led the group in a recitation of the Navkar Mantra. Samani Prasanna Pragya went on to describe how meditation is required in our daily lives to gain energy which we cannot gain through our diet or as we do not have enough time to sleep. This was followed by the screening of a DVD on how meditation worked and its techniques. After the screening, it was the turn of the participants to practice meditation. Samani Prasanna Pragya led the participants in lying down meditation, followed by sitting meditation. This was followed by a chance for the participants to ask questions about the meditation.
At the close of the event, Samani Prasanna Pragya explained the activities taking place at Jain Vishwa Bharati London and invited participants to visit. Literature and CDs on meditation were available after the event. Many participants have commented on how they found the meditation very refreshing and we hope they will find it useful as they study for the exams.
