Dr. Delmer T. Robinson, Archbishop and distinguished thinker dedicated to religious reconciliation affirms that several themes could be offered as sub themes to our economics of non-violence. One of them, world peace and the cessation of hostilities and violence within the nations and governments is the raison d'être for this conference. We have largely been reluctant with the idea of creating an economy that would benefit everybody. Instead, we created an economy that differentiates and perpetuates our personal gains. How do we bring greater wealth to our stakeholders by being the best, second best and the third best down the line and that is called the economics of wealth. The time has come when we should take a non-violent economic resolve in all aspects of economic activity ranging from production, and distribution to consumption of goods and services.
The United Nations recently published some astonishing news, attributing ‘Knowledge Gap' as a major cause of poverty and in Geneva, the girls being barred from school. This knowledge gap has a detrimental effect and needs to be bridged.
We really don't know what peace looks like, we really don't know what it is all about. Peace is something that seems to have skipped our reference point and we have no reference point. Dr. Robinson made a clarion call by saying that we all have the onus of bringing about peace, peace and peace alone.
