Dr. S.L Gandhi

Dr. S.L.Gandhi, International Coordinator of the Conference and International Secretary General, Anuvibha, said that an unusual and unprecedented crisis of sustainability is staring us in the face. Referring to James Lovelock, the most celebrated and controversial scientist of today he talked about the Gaia Theory, which proposes that the Earth can be equated to the Mother Goddess. Life is likely to disappear from this planet within a span of three decades, if human beings do not realize the importance of co-existence. Sustainability depends on a world, which is without arms, a world where biodiversity has been protected, a world where people practise ahimsa in their day to day life, a world of equality where the poor are taken care of.

Referring to Acharya Mahapragyaji'sAhimsa Yatra in the communal violence afflicted parts of Gujarat, he said that Acharya Mahapragyaji had come across scenes of abject poverty, children reduced to skeletons, naked and hungry. He was moved and realized that there could be no sustainability if a new model of economics was not developed. These scary scenes made him rise above the narrow boundaries of religion and spirituality and put forth his ideas amongstAnuvrat workers. It was indeed a brilliant idea of a sustainable world based on ethics andahimsa. The idea is undoubtedly a turning point in the history of humanity, because all beginnings are very small, confined to a few people, but then they spread in such a speedy manner that people are swept away by the under current.

Acharya Mahapragyaji, said Dr. Gandhi, has not studied in any University but is a University and an encyclopaedia in himself. He was quite hopeful that the vision of a sustainable world would unquestionably become a stark reality and non-violence would be the way of life in future.
