Jain Art
As one of the three major religions of ancient India, Jainism has a prosperous cultural heritage which origins probably dates back to the age of Mauryan empire. Veneration of the 24 Tirthankaras is the most significant devotional focus in Jainism, so the Jina image is a principle motif in Jain art but there are also images of Jain deities, yakshas and yakshis etc., made both of stone and bronze. Furthermore, there is a great tradition of Jain manuscript painting and, finally, numerous Jain temples of different styles complete the wide spectrum of Jain art.
