On November 25, Samani Prasanna Pragya and Samani Rohit Pragya were invited to University of Wales, Newport, by Dr Lynn Foulston, Programme leader of Religious studies and Philosophy. The Topic of the talk was ‘Life style of Jain Ascetic’ and ‘Introduction of Jain Vishva Bharati’. The session was attended by 15 students of the religious department. Prof. Lynn introduced both Samanijis. In her speech Samani Rohit Pragya introduced Jainism in brief and explained five great vows, five types of awareness and three types of restraint, observes and followed by Jain ascetics through out their life. She also spoke about the establishment of a new rank of Samanis in Terapanth sect by late Acharya Tulsi.
After the speech, DVD of Jain nuns was showed to them to give an idea of activities done by Samanis to spread the universal theories of Jainism. In the session of open discussion, many students asked the question regarding Jain principles, Jain Mantra, Samanijis’ daily routine etc. They were curious to know how both samanijis decided to renounce the world and became samani. Samani Prasanna Pragya and Samani Rohit Pragya explained why they chose the path of spirituality. Samanijis offered booklet - ‘Introduction to Jainism’ to all students. They also proposed to Pro Lynn and students to visit JVB London centre. Prof. Lynn and all students paid their gratitude to Samanijis for accepting the invitation and giving an
informative and interesting talk.
