World Academy of Spiritual Sciences (WASS) organised National Convention on Science, Spirituality & Health at Lodhi Road, Chinmaya Centre, New Delhi on 21st and 22nd August, 2010.
Beside the huge gathering by participants from various fields, the occasion was marked by many prominent personalities like Health Minister Dr. Kiran Walia, Swami Avdheshananda, Swami Dharmananda. Prominent medical practioners like Dr. S.K. Sama, Dr. S.C. Manchanda, Dr. H. K. Chopra, Dr. Ashok Seth.
The convention was started with guided meditation by Swami Dharmananda at 8.30 A M on 21st August morning. Speaking on this occasion Dr. S.K. Sama the chairman of WASS said, today many medical practitioners all over the world combine spirituality with the medical practice is accepted increasingly.
Spirituality is now a part of the curriculum of more than half the medical schools in USA. Neuro theologya new field that studies the neurological basis of spirituality is becoming popular. A recent survey conducted by Chicago University that 45% of the doctors even in USA feel that religious conviction influences the healing. It has been documented that meditation & relaxation techniques improve the immune system.
On 22nd August at 10.30 A.M. Panel discussion which was moderated by Dr. S.K. Manchanda was organised with prominent doctors and Swami Dharmananda as panelist. The discussion started by Swami Dharmananda explaining the concept of Yoga as a healthy life stile with the ultimate aim of self-realisation. To follow the discipline of Yoga automatically brings health in life. This is the age of tension. Yoga Mediation and Relaxation is the most useful techniques which can tension very easily.
