Jain Sadhvi Shree Padamavati Ji Maharaj (1928-2011) starts the Santhara vow on 5 February 2011, remained on Santhara for a total of 177 hours and 40 minutes, and left for the heavenly abode on 12 February 2011. Sadhvi Padamavati, born on 27 August 1928 to Kesar Devi and Daulat Ram Chaudhary of Tekwara, in Maharashtra, got initiated into the order of Jain Sadhvis on 31 March 1988. Her daughters, Sadhvi Shreee Mahimashsree Ji, is also in the Jain order of Sadhvis and is also Founder of Tirthankar Sadhna Kendra at Malerkotla.
Sadhvi Padamavati of NavTerapanth sangh was staying at Malerkota during her last days when she decided to take Santhara. Although quite advanced in years, she was quite active and alert when she, on her own, decided to take this step. During these about eight days of Santhara. She had a very peaceful end on 12 February.
On 13 February 2011, the day after her departure to the heavenly abode, her body was taken in a huge procession through the streets of Malkerkotla before cremation. Mr Purshottam Jain, renowned Punjabi Jain Writer who for a long time considered her as his religious -mother, lit the pyre made of pure sandal wood with Jain Traditions.
