Shri Digamber Jain Siddha Kshetra Kundalgiri

Shri Digamber Jain Siddha Kshetra Kundalgiri is a well-known and popular place of Jain pilgrimage near Kundalpur (Madhya Pradesh). It is a siddha kshetra (place of salvation) and is also famous as an atikshaya-kshetra (miracle place).

• The place is famous for the miraculous colossus of Bade Baba Bhagwan Adinath in sitting (Padmasana) posture (15 feet in height) and is a place of salvation of Antim Kevali Shridhar Kevali. The image of Bade Baba is supposed to be installed in the 10th or 11th century.
  
  
• The complex consists of 63 temples of various types. Among them, the 22nd temple is famous for Bade Baba Bhagwan Adinath, the principal deity, and the 49th temple is called Jal Mandir, an attractive temple situated in the middle of beautiful pond Vardhaman Sagar.
  
  
• There are 40 temples located on the hill and 23 in valley. Temples No. 41 to 47 are small in size while No. 48 to 60 are larger buildings with beautiful spires.
  
  
• According to an inscription of Vikram Samvat 1757, the temple was re-discovered by Bhattaraka Surendrakirti of Mulasangha-Balatkaragana-Sarasvati Gachchha and was rebuilt from ruins by his disciple, with assistance from Bundela ruler Chhatrasal. A temple called Jal Mandir is situated in the middle of the pond Vardhaman Sagar.
  
  
• Acharya Vidyasagar has been the main source of inspiration for the construction, development and renovation of the main temple and various structures at Kundalpur. He is often referred as Chhote baba also by his disciples.
