Dhyāna Mudrā

Sculptures of a seated Tirthankara depict the Jina in the meditative padmāsana posture with the hands in the gesture of dhyāna mudrā, where the two hands are placed on the lap. According to the Jaina tradition, the Tirthankaras Rishabha, Neminatha and Mahavira attained release meditating in the padmāsana posture sitting on the lotus-throne.
