Gwalior

Hindi: ग्वालियर gvāliyar

is a city in Madhya Pradesh, located 122 kilometres south of Agra and 423 kilometres north of Bhopal. Gwalior occupies a strategic location in the Gird region of India. The city and its fortress have served as the center of several of historic northern Indian kingdoms. Gwalior is the administrative headquarters of Gwalior district and Gwalior division.

Gwalior Fort stands on an isolated rock, overlooking the Gwalior town, and contains a number of historic buildings, among them the Jain Temple and Rock Sculptures of Gwalior Fort.
