Gunawa

is a small village situated just north of Nawada in the Indian state of Bihar. The place is also known as "Guniyaji" (or "Gunayaji") which is probably derived from "Gunsheel Chaitya". According to an ancient inscription in Rajgir this term means a kind of virtuous home, i.e. a place which was once visited many times by Lord Mahavira to preach his doctrines of non-violence. The place belongs to Shree Digambar Jain Siddha Kshetra Gunawaji and hosts more than 40 Jain temples (Digambara and Shvetambara), among them Guniyaji Shri Gautam Swami Mandir and Gunawa Digambara Jain Mandir.
