Shri Mahavir Swami Temple and Shri Sachhiyay Mata Temple at Osian

The small village of Osian is an important pilgrimage center for the Oswal Jain community. Among the many temples and shrines of the village the Shri Mahavir Swami Temple and the Shri Sachhiyay Mata Temple are of special interest. It is conjectured from several evidences that the people of Osian were converted to Jainism by Jain Acharya Ratnaprabhasuriji, who had impressed the populace of the region by his supernatural powers. The goddess Shri Sachhiyay Mata is subject of some local legends, narrating the conversion of the inhabitants of Osian to Jainism, and is especially worshipped by Oswal Jains.
