Alias(es)
Bārsā Sūtra

Root-text/part of the Kalpa Sūtra

Literally the 'Twelve Hundred Verses," referring to the length of the Prakrit root-text.

Read traditionally on the 8th/last day of Paryushan.

The presentation copy of the Bārsā Sūtra nowadays tends to be a printed edition illustrated with reproductions of medieval manuscript paintings; formerly, wealthy laity would arrange for a copy to be hand-copied (sometimes with gold ink) and illustrated for presentation on this occasion.
