To evaluate the contribution of Jain tradition to the Sanskrit literature, a three day National Seminar was organized as the joint venture of Bhogilal Leherchand Institute of Indology and Delhi Sanskrit Academy, Govt. of Delhi, in the premises of Vijay Vallabh Smarak, Jain Mandir, from 27th to 29th March 2015. In this seminar fifty papers were presented by distinguished scholars from different parts of India.

The papers presented underlined the importance of the rich corpus brought out by Jain Acharyas in the form of various branches of Sanskrit literature such as Epics, Kavya, Drama, Dutakavya, Padapurti, Poetics, Prosody, Grammar, Lexicons, Math, Astrology, Ayurveda, Epistemology, Realty, Spirituality, Karma Doctrine, Yoga and Meditation, Ethics, Anthology, canonical commentaries, Jain commentaries on non-jain literature etc.

Every one felt the need of concerted effort to be made through Govt. bodies as well as through educational Institutions to bring to light this valuable heritage before the scholars and the society. Those prominent among the delegates were Prof. Sagarmal Jain, Shajapur, Prof. Rajaram Jain, Noida, Prof. Jitendra B. Shah, Ahmedabad, Prof. Dharam Chand Jain, Jodhpur, Prof. Ashok Kumar Jain, Dr. Munni Pushpa Jain and Prof. Ashok Kumar Singh, Varanasi, Prof. Rishabh Chand Jain, Vaishali, Prof. Minal Katarnikar, Mumbai, Prof. Samani Dr. Kusum Prajna Ji, Ladnun, Bra. Sandeep Saral, Beena, Dr. Vijay Kumar Jain and Vrishabh Prasad Jain, Lucknow, Prof. Narendra Kumar Jain, Ghaziabad, Prof. Shreyansh Kumar Singhai and Prof. Kamlesh Kumar Jain, Jaipur, Prof. Shubh Chandra, Mysore, Dr. Vijay Shankar Shukla, Prof. Veer Sagar Jain, Prof. Sudeep Jain, Dr. Anekant Kumar Jain, Dr. Balram Shukla and Dr. Kalpna Jain, Delhi.

In Inaugural session held on 27th March 2015, presiding the function Prof. J. B. Shah, and Prof. Mahavir Agarwal, Vice chancellor, Uttrakhand Sanskrit University, emphasised the importance of such seminars in propagating the enormous Sanskrit literature of Jaina tradition.

Academic Director of B. L. Institute Prof. Phool Chand Jain Premi highlighted the objective of the seminar. Dr. Dharmendra Kumar, Secretary, Delhi Sanskrit Academy, said that Sanskrit Jain Literature is very valuable for knowing the various aspects of Indian culture and in order to bring to the light this treasure of Jain Literature, regular seminars ought to be organized across the nation. Director of the BLII Prof. G.C. Tripathi welcomed all the delegates and other guests.

Eminent personality of Jain Society Shri Raj Kumar Jain, Chairman Emeritus of Vijay Vallabh Smarak spoke about the activities of this campus and its activities. Shri Sanjay Jain, Secretary, World Jain Organization and Shri Rakesh Jain, presented the important literature brought out with the inspiration of Ach. Gyan Sagar Ji Maharaj.

The Valedictory Session of the Seminar was held on 29th March 2015. Former Director, Dr. Jagdish Semwal, Vedic Research Institute, Hosiyarpur, was the Chief Guest and Prof. Sagarmal Jain, Shajapur was the president. Samani Dr. Kusum Prajna, the Guest of honour, Director Dr. Gaya Charan Tripathi, Prof. Vijay Karan, Lucknow, graced this occasion by the their benign presence.

Dr. Dharmendra Kumar, Secretary, Delhi Sanskrit Academy and Prof. Phool Chand Jain Premi proposed vote of thanks on the behalf of Delhi Sanskrit Academy and B. L. Institute, respectively.
